My phlebitis started out with what looked like purple veins on my left leg. That turned into pain, swollen areas, weakness and blotchy, bruised-looking red skin. Nine days later, both of my legs injure and I feel I have it in both legs. I can feel the aforementioned pain, weakness and warmth in my left arm. And I have a ruddy blotchy rash over my whole body. I am an active 33 year old, 5'7" and 165 pounds. I have no idea how I got phlebitis. It has fabricated me depressed considering I've been so weak and afraid of blood clots.

I had the same phlebitis symptoms around 25 years agone, went to the doctors with symptoms in my calf. It was like dragging something heavy around my dogie. My physician said it was phlebitis, cannot remember what handling he gave me, but my symptoms have merely come back again after those, years ago. I am resting upwards. I do have varicose veins, which they do say is the cause in some cases.

My phlebitis symptoms are severe pain in my lower leg like a abiding toothache, getting much more than on movement, similar burning hot needles along the vein. Standing upwardly after rest is excruciating. It's been 2 weeks now, and painkillers don't help much.

I experienced what I believe was phlebitis, 5 months after chemotherapy, at the site of an Iv. The pain I was feeling wasn't upstream from the IV site, it was in my forearm and wrist where the chemotherapy had been administered. I realize now that doctors and nurses were looking for red streaks and pain in a higher place the site. No 1 asked me about heat - I was feeling that moving toward my chest. I didn't tell them. I had begged them to accept out the catheter and they didn't; I figured they thought I was schizophrenic.

I tin't say exactly when my phlebitis began, either right after surgery to remove my lymph nodes in the femoral groin expanse or while I was taking chemotherapy. My legs became awful. I accept lost sensation in both legs, and the only matter I can feel is extreme called-for and hurting. My legs were leaking fluid and my shins await similar I've been kicked. I had surgery on the veins in both legs. It improved the swelling. They still burn down like fire. I am trying to get the weeping lesions and bumps to heal up.

My deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in my right calf, came later on a full human knee replacement (same leg). Afterward reading the surgery notes of both the doctor's and the scrub nurse's, I found they but released the tourniquet ii times during the whole procedure, resulting in phlebitis. I had no idea something small like that could hurt then bad, it permanently discolored the skin, and when the massive swelling went down, it caused a musculus dent as well (that knee doctor now releases every 15 minutes; equally it should be). Such things happen, but education on any surgery involving limbs! Pays to be proactive and inquire questions (I do at present) as I sit down here with a ruined back of manus vein from blown IV, because they merely kept using the same vein and arm, working its way to my elbow! It is very painful, hard, and around 6 inches long and information technology has branched to the pinky side of the wrist. This is the 2nd fourth dimension this has happened (1st i, vein took months to completely disappear).

When I was six months pregnant with my at present 38 twelvemonth one-time son, my left leg had swollen to twice its normal size, and I was in unbearable pain. I went to the doctor seven times, each time telling a doctor that I idea I had thrombophlebitis. The first vi doctors didn't take me seriously. Ane suggested I had an inguinal hernia. Another said the infant was pressing on a nerve in my uterus. Yet another told me significant ladies get bloated legs sometimes. He walked out when I asked why the other leg was perfectly fine. Finally I saw a doctor who listened to me. He then listened to my veins with a Doppler auto and headphones, and said I had thrombophlebitis in the left inguinal region. I was in infirmary, on IV heparin for four weeks. Because other anticoagulants cross the placenta, I had to take heparin for the rest of my pregnancy and throughout my four subsequent pregnancies (for prophylaxis). In those days, I was extremely agile, and the leg improved rather quickly with the utilise of heparin and compression stockings. A few months ago, I started feeling extreme pain in my left calf, with noticeable swelling. It didn't improve with residuum, elevation, and a heating pad. So I had it checked for a blood clot at the emergency room. There I found out that I had numerous blood clots with phlebitis. I was in hospital for a week, and now, two months later, I'thou nevertheless in unbearable hurting whenever I lower my leg. I'm on Coumadin, wearing compression stockings, and using a heating pad when elevating my leg. I'd say it's improved a little scrap, merely healing at age 60 takes a lot longer than information technology did at 22!

I was born in 1956, with deep vein thrombosis in my left knee joint area. Severe swelling occurred when I became agile, consequently, I wore Ace bandages to school/play, and was miserable with throbbing pain at night. At age 6, I had surgery for phlebitis which involved cutting around the human knee cap expanse and folding that skin back, thus assuasive the md access to the large group of connected veins which pooled there nether the knee cap area. The surgery was a success. I've had normal growth in my leg (some doctors warned I would not) and have even so to develop arthritis from trauma to that genu.
